The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, constipation, and occasionally vomiting or diarrhea. These are most pronounced during dose escalation and typically improve as your body adjusts. Conservative titration, the standard at Tactus Health, significantly reduces severity. Serious but rare risks include pancreatitis. Tirzepatide is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2.
Yes. Tirzepatide was originally approved for type 2 diabetes management (Mounjaro). The GIP component provides particularly strong blood sugar control effects. Our medical team will review your current diabetes medications to ensure safe combination, especially regarding hypoglycemia risk with sulfonylureas or insulin.
