Telehealth — FAQ
How Tactus Health telehealth works — what’s available, which states we serve, how labs work remotely, and what to expect from your first virtual appointment.
Telehealth is available by telehealth. If telehealth is not available where you live, in-person care is available at our Sugar Hill, GA clinic. See our telehealth page for the full state list and service availability by state.
Medical weight loss (GLP-1 medications — semaglutide and tirzepatide), TRT for men (injections and gels), and HRT for women (patches, gels, creams, oral progesterone, and testosterone) are all fully available via telehealth. Aesthetics services (Botox, RF Microneedling, facials) require an in-person visit. Testosterone and hormone pellets also require an in-person visit for the insertion procedure.
Yes — many patients start with telehealth and come in-person for specific services like pellets or aesthetics. You’re a Tactus Health patient regardless of how you access care. Our providers see your full clinical history whether you’re consulting virtually or sitting in the Sugar Hill clinic.
Your initial appointment is a 30-45 minute video consultation with Dr. Ashar. Our medical team reviews your health history, symptoms, and goals, then determines whether labs are needed before prescribing. If labs are required, she sends the order same day to your nearest Quest or Labcorp. A follow-up appointment is scheduled once results are available, at which point our medical team reviews your labs and creates your personalized treatment plan.
We use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You receive a secure appointment link by email before your visit. No downloads or accounts are required — it runs in your browser on any device. You’ll receive detailed instructions when you book your appointment.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. A quiet, private space where you can speak openly. A list of any current medications and supplements. Any recent lab results if you have them — though our providers will order their own baseline panel regardless. That’s it. No paperwork to prepare in advance.
For the services we offer via telehealth — medical weight loss, TRT, and HRT — yes. These are lab-driven, medication-management services. The clinical work happens through laboratory analysis, prescription optimization, and follow-up consultation — all of which can be done fully and effectively through a video platform. The quality of your care depends on the quality of the clinician, not whether you’re sitting in an office. Dr. Ashar is the same provider regardless of how you access her.
Dr. Ashar orders your labs electronically and sends the order to your preferred Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp location. Most locations accept walk-ins — no appointment needed. Results are typically available within 48-72 hours and are reviewed directly by Dr. Ashar, who then contacts you to discuss findings and your treatment plan. See our nationwide lab finder to locate a draw site near you.
Labs are billed separately from your consultation fees, directly from Quest or LabCorp. Tactus Health does not mark up lab costs. We work with both networks because they offer competitive pricing for patients paying out of pocket. Many labs for hormone and weight loss monitoring run $80-$200 depending on the panel. If you have insurance or an HSA/FSA, labs may be reimbursable — bring your insurance card to the draw site.
You can bring recent labs (within 60 days for most panels) to your consultation and Dr. Ashar will review them. However, she will often still order her own baseline — either because she needs additional markers your previous panel didn’t include, or because the timing of collection affects hormone values (testosterone, for example, must be drawn in the morning). Sharing prior labs speeds up the conversation but rarely eliminates the need for a fresh draw.
From the time your prescription is sent to the pharmacy, allow 5-7 business days for shipping. Most patients complete their initial consultation and lab review within 7-10 days of their first appointment, meaning treatment typically begins within 2-3 weeks of booking. Subsequent monthly fills ship automatically once your protocol is established.
We work with FDA-registered compounding pharmacies for GLP-1 medications and customized hormone formulations. For FDA-approved brand-name medications, we can send prescriptions to any licensed pharmacy of your choice, including your local retail pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy. Dr. Ashar will discuss options based on your specific prescription at your consultation.
Established patients can request refills through our patient portal for medications with an active prescription that doesn’t require a new clinical assessment. Controlled substances and medications requiring recent labs (testosterone, GLP-1) require updated lab results and periodic follow-up appointments before renewal. Our providers do not prescribe blindly without current lab data — this is a clinical standard that protects your health.
Tactus Health is a direct-pay practice — we do not bill insurance for consultations or program fees. Pricing is transparent and you know what you’re paying before committing to anything. HSA and FSA are accepted. Financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry, and AfterPay.
Yes. All video consultations, patient messaging, and clinical records are handled through HIPAA-compliant platforms. Your health information is never sold or shared with third parties outside of standard clinical operations. Dr. Ashar reviews your records personally — your data doesn’t pass through call centers or offshore teams.
