Why She Built Tactus Health

A Practice Built on a Personal Mission

Dr. Ashar’s path to medicine started at home. Her mother lived with diabetes for years, and Dr. Ashar watched the medical system treat her mother’s labs without ever explaining what was happening, what to expect, or how to slow the progression. Information that should have been routine never made it from clinician to patient. The gap was wide enough that her mother’s outcomes suffered for it.

That experience shaped her decision to enter healthcare. She wanted to be the kind of provider who closed that gap, not just for her own family but for everyone walking into a clinic asking the same unanswered questions.

Years later, working as a lead nurse practitioner at a specialty practice for kidney disease and congestive heart failure, our medical team saw the same pattern at scale. Patients arrived with advanced disease who had never been told the warning signs years earlier. People who developed metabolic syndrome, then diabetes, then kidney complications, without anyone walking them through what was happening to their body or what they could do about it earlier. The system was treating the late stages well. The early stages were being missed.

Tactus Health was built to be the practice she wished her mother had access to: time with a provider, transparent conversations about lab results, evidence-based protocols, and a team that explains what’s happening and why before any prescription is written.

Today, Dr. Ashar serves as Co-Founder and Medical Director, designing the clinical protocols and training the licensed providers who deliver care across the practice. Her dual board certification in family medicine and psychiatric mental health gives her a perspective most providers do not have: an understanding that hormones, mood, sleep, energy, and metabolism are interconnected systems, and that good care addresses all of them together.

Clinical Philosophy

How Dr. Ashar Approaches Care

These are the principles Dr. Ashar built into the Tactus Health protocols and the standards our medical team trains every provider on the team to follow.

Labs inform the plan, not assumptions
When labs are part of your care, we read them carefully and build protocols around your specific numbers rather than assumptions about what should be happening based on age or symptoms alone. When labs are not feasible at the start, our providers use clinical evaluation to build a safe plan and revisit labs at follow-up.
Whole-person, not single-symptom
Hormones, mood, sleep, energy, and body composition are connected systems. We treat the full picture rather than chasing individual lab values in isolation.
Conservative dosing, iterative adjustment
Start lower than needed, adjust based on how you respond. It is always easier to add than to correct, and the right dose for you is the one that produces the right outcome with the fewest side effects.
Protocols, not templates
Every patient gets an individualized plan. The framework is consistent across our team because it is evidence-based, but the specifics are tuned to your biology and your goals.
