Cellulite Has Three Tissue Components. The Most Effective Treatment Addresses All Three.

Cellulite is caused by a combination of subcutaneous fat deposits, fibrous connective tissue bands (septae) that tether the skin downward, and reduced skin elasticity in the overlying dermis. Treatments that address only one of these components produce limited results. The protocol at Tactus Health combines ultrasonic cavitation — which disrupts the fat deposits — with radiofrequency body sculpting — which targets both the fibrous septae and the dermal layer to tighten skin. Together, they address cellulite’s underlying biology at multiple tissue levels simultaneously.

The Protocol

Cavitation + RF: Why the Combination Works

Ultrasonic cavitation uses low-frequency sound waves to create microscopic bubbles within fat cell clusters. When these bubbles collapse, they produce pressure waves that rupture the fat cell membrane. The released lipids are processed by the lymphatic system. Cavitation reduces the fat volume contributing to cellulite’s uneven surface.

Radiofrequency body sculpting delivers controlled heat into the dermis and subcutaneous layer. This heat disrupts fibrous septae — the connective tissue bands that pull the skin downward and create the dimpled appearance — and simultaneously stimulates new collagen production in the dermis. As the new collagen forms, the overlying skin tightens and the downward tethering of the septae is reduced.

Wood therapy can be added to sessions to support lymphatic drainage of released fat cell debris and promote circulation in the treated area. The combination of all three approaches — cavitation, RF, and wood therapy — represents the most comprehensive non-surgical cellulite protocol available at Tactus Health.

Realistic expectations: Non-surgical cellulite treatment produces measurable improvement, not complete elimination. Grade 1–2 cellulite responds best. Grade 3 cellulite with deep dimpling can be improved but not eliminated without surgery. Our providers assess your grade at consultation.

Three-Layer Approach

Each Technology Targets a Different Cellulite Component

Ultrasonic Cavitation → Fat Layer
Low-frequency ultrasound disrupts fat cell membranes through acoustic cavitation. Released lipids are cleared by the lymphatic system. Reduces the fat volume creating surface unevenness. 1 to 2 passes per session over the target area.
RF Sculpting → Septae + Dermis
Radiofrequency heat disrupts the fibrous septae that pull the skin downward. Simultaneously triggers collagen remodeling in the dermis, improving skin elasticity and thickness to resist the dimpling caused by remaining septae.
Wood Therapy → Lymphatic Drainage
Manual mechanical pressure along lymphatic pathways promotes drainage of fluid and liberated fat cell debris. Reduces post-treatment swelling, supports the lymphatic clearance of disrupted fat, and adds additional mechanical disruption of fibrous tissue.

Why the combination matters: Single-technology cellulite treatments address one component and leave the others untreated. The reason most patients are disappointed by single-modality treatments is that cellulite has multiple contributors. Addressing all three simultaneously is what produces visible, lasting improvement.

Your Session

What to Expect at Your Cellulite Treatment Session

01
Assessment & Measurement
Your aesthetician grades your cellulite severity, takes circumference and photographic measurements, and designs your session protocol. Measurements are tracked at every session to document progress objectively.
02
Cavitation (20–30 min)
Ultrasonic cavitation handpiece is applied to the treatment area with conductive gel. Most patients feel warmth and a subtle buzzing. Multiple passes cover the full treatment area. Urine may appear slightly cloudier for 24–48 hours as lipids are metabolized.
03
RF Sculpting (25–35 min)
RF applicator is applied to deliver heat to the dermis and subcutaneous layer. The electromagnetic component adds muscle stimulation if treating the thighs or buttocks. Most patients feel deep warmth. Intensity adjusted to your comfort throughout.
04
Wood Therapy (optional, 15 min)
Directional mechanical pressure with wood therapy tools supports lymphatic drainage immediately after cavitation and RF. Drink 2 liters of water post-session. Light walking promotes ongoing lymphatic clearance throughout the day.

“Single-technology cellulite treatment is why so many patients are disappointed. Cavitation alone helps but doesn’t address the septae. RF alone helps but doesn’t address the fat. The combination works because cellulite has multiple contributors and you need to address all of them.”

Common Questions

Cellulite Treatment FAQ

Can cellulite be completely eliminated?

Non-surgical treatments can significantly reduce cellulite severity, improve texture, and produce visible smoothing — but complete elimination is not a realistic expectation from non-surgical approaches. Grade 1 and Grade 2 cellulite responds best. Grade 3 cellulite with deep, persistent dimpling can be improved substantially but not eliminated without surgical procedures. Dr. Ashar grades your cellulite at your consultation and gives you an honest assessment of what treatment can achieve.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients see meaningful improvement over a series of 6–10 sessions scheduled 2–3 times per week. The number depends on the grade of cellulite, the areas being treated, and how your body responds. Maintenance sessions every 4–6 weeks help sustain results. Your aesthetician designs the series protocol at your consultation.

Is non-surgical cellulite treatment permanent?

No. Cellulite can return over time as new fat accumulates and the fibrous septae re-develop. Results from a treatment series are typically sustained for 6–12 months with maintenance sessions and stable weight. Significant weight gain will accelerate recurrence. Monthly or bi-monthly maintenance sessions extend results.

Does diet and exercise affect results?

Yes, positively. Patients who maintain a stable weight, stay hydrated, and do not develop significant new fat deposits in treated areas retain their results longer. Resistance training in particular helps sustain the muscle tone that RF sculpting produces alongside the fat and texture improvements. Your aesthetician discusses lifestyle factors that support and sustain results at your consultation.

Can I combine this with other body contouring treatments?

Yes. The cellulite treatment protocol at Tactus Health already combines cavitation and RF sculpting. Wood therapy can be added to sessions for enhanced lymphatic drainage. Non-surgical BBL can be incorporated if glute lift and shape are also goals. Your aesthetician designs the full protocol based on your specific combination of concerns.
