VI Peel Precision Plus: When Standard Isn’t Enough
The VI Peel Precision Plus takes the Precision formula’s brightening approach to its maximum intensity. It adds a proprietary booster with additional tyrosinase inhibitors and skin-brightening compounds at higher concentrations — specifically designed for the most resistant cases of hyperpigmentation, melasma, and deep sun damage.
This formula is recommended for patients who have tried the standard Precision formula or other brightening treatments without achieving their desired result, patients with deep melasma, and patients with significant long-term sun damage. The Precision Plus involves a more intensive peeling process and requires strict sun protection during recovery. Cynthia will assess candidacy at consultation — not every patient needs this level of treatment, and starting here without establishing skin tolerance is not recommended.

Precision Plus is for patients with stubborn, resistant pigmentation that has not responded adequately to the standard Precision formula or other brightening treatments. Most patients start with the standard Precision and progress to Precision Plus only if the initial treatment did not produce sufficient improvement. Cynthia will not recommend starting here unless the assessment clearly indicates it is the right level of treatment for your specific concern.
More intensive than the standard Precision formula — expect 7-10 days of visible peeling. Sun protection is critical both during recovery and for ongoing maintenance, since the new skin revealed after peeling is more sensitive to UV exposure. Georgia’s sun intensity makes this particularly important to plan around. Cynthia will provide a post-peel care protocol with specific product and SPF instructions.
Melasma is hormonally driven and cannot be permanently eliminated — it can be significantly controlled and lightened, but requires ongoing management and strict sun protection to prevent recurrence. Sun spots (solar lentigines) are static UV-damage lesions that respond well to one-time or series treatment. The treatment approach and expectations are different for each. Cynthia tailors the treatment plan based on which type of pigmentation you have after your consultation assessment.
With proper assessment and preparation, yes. The VI Peel Precision Plus is formulated for Fitzpatrick skin types I-VI, but medium and darker skin tones require additional caution because aggressive peel treatments carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — the opposite of the intended result. Cynthia may recommend a pre-peel preparation protocol with skin-conditioning products before performing the treatment on darker complexions.
For melasma specifically, a series of 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is typically required to see significant lightening. Melasma also tends to recur with sun exposure, so maintenance treatments are part of a long-term management plan. Patients who understand that melasma is a chronic condition requiring ongoing management get the best outcomes. Cynthia will be honest with you about realistic expectations at your consultation.
