Who the Purify Is For
The Purify is the acne formula. The manufacturer positions it for active and hormonal acne, oily skin and congested pores, and states that it treats acne grades one through four, which covers everything from a few comedones to inflamed, widespread breakouts.
If your skin is oily, breaks out along the jaw with your cycle, or never quite clears no matter what you wash with, this is the formula built for that picture.
What the Purify Is Built For

What Is in the Purify
The base is the VI Peel blend of TCA, retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol and vitamin C. The Purify adds what the manufacturer describes as its top acne-fighting ingredients, formulated to reduce C. acnes bacteria and comedones, reduce sebum, and unclog congested pores and the outer skin layer.
Your post-peel kit includes the Purify towelettes, which continue the acne work at home after the peel.
What the Seven Days Look Like
About 30 minutes in the clinic. Warmth and tingling for a few minutes while the solution goes on in layers; you leave looking slightly flushed or tan, with your post-peel kit. Nothing on the skin for the first four hours, not even sunscreen.
Skin feels tight and can look darker. Flaking usually starts on day two. No exercise for 72 to 96 hours, and only the products from your kit on your face.
Peeling is at its most visible. Do not pull or pick at it; trim loose edges if you must. Makeup can cover it. Stay out of direct sun and wear the kit SPF every morning.
Peeling eases on day six and most people have stopped by day seven. Your follow-up appointment checks the result and plans the next peel if a series is recommended.

How many sessions do I need? Many patients see meaningful results from a single treatment. For melasma, significant hyperpigmentation, or acne scarring, a series of 2-3 peels spaced 4-6 weeks apart is typically recommended. Our medical team will advise at your free consultation.
A Good Fit, and When to Tell Us First

When a Different Formula Fits Better

VI Peel Purify Questions
Yes. Active acne is what the Purify is formulated for, including hormonal acne, and the manufacturer states it for acne grades one through four. Open wounds and active cold sores in the treatment area are the exceptions; we check at the consultation.
It can, briefly. A purge after any exfoliating treatment is normal on congested skin, because faster cell turnover brings trapped congestion to the surface. The manufacturer says it reduces with each peel as the pores clear.
If dark marks and texture are part of the picture, the Purify with Precision Plus adds the pigment boosters to this formula and treats the breakouts and the marks together. We will recommend one or the other at the consultation.
