The products and technique used in an adult anti-aging facial are not appropriate for this type of skin. At Tactus Health, our teen facial uses salicylic or mandelic acid cleansing to target oil and bacteria at the follicle level, gentle extractions focused on comedones, antibacterial treatment, and lightweight oil-control finishing products. No retinoids. No heavy occlusive creams. No adult protocol applied to a 16-year-old. Home routine education is included at every session so your teen builds habits that support the treatment between visits.

Teen skin needs oil control, antibacterial treatment, and non-comedogenic hydration. It does not need peptide serums for fine lines, heavy occlusives, or retinoids. Getting this wrong, applying adult products to teen skin, can aggravate acne and disrupt the skin barrier rather than improving it.

The teen facial is designed for patients ages 13 through 19. Below age 13, we recommend consulting with your pediatrician or dermatologist first. Patients 20 and older are better served by our custom adult facial, which uses a more complete range of active ingredients appropriate for adult skin concerns.
Yes. Parents and guardians are welcome to accompany their teen to any session, particularly the first. We encourage a brief conversation between the parent, the teen, and the aesthetician at the start of the first appointment to align on skin history, current products, and concerns. After that initial session most teens prefer attending on their own as they build comfort with the treatment.
We recommend starting with a monthly series of 3 sessions. Most teens see meaningful improvement in acne frequency and severity over 3-4 consistent monthly sessions. Some teens see results more quickly. After completing the initial series, monthly maintenance sessions keep congestion managed and support continued skin health. The 3-session program is the most cost-effective starting point.
The teen facial is designed to be gentle. Enzyme exfoliation is used rather than aggressive chemical or mechanical methods. Extractions are focused on comedones and avoid actively inflamed pustules or cysts. For teens with severe cystic acne or highly inflamed skin, our aesthetician will adjust the protocol at the session and may recommend a dermatologist consultation for prescription treatment alongside the facial series.
Home routine education is included at every teen facial session. Your aesthetician will recommend a simple morning and evening routine appropriate for your teen’s skin type: a salicylic acid or gentle gel cleanser, a lightweight non-comedogenic moisturizer, and a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ for daytime. She will advise against products that commonly worsen teen acne, including heavy creams, certain makeup primers, and fragrance-heavy products. Product recommendations are matched to a realistic teen budget.
