Duration varies by product and area. Lip fillers typically last 6–12 months. Cheek and structural fillers last 12–24 months. Under-eye filler can last 12–18 months. Individual metabolism affects duration — some patients metabolize HA faster than others. Dr. Ashar discusses expected duration for each product and area at your consultation.
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase enzyme at any time. This makes HA fillers uniquely reversible compared to most other aesthetic procedures. If you are ever dissatisfied with the result, or if a vascular complication occurs, hyaluronidase dissolves the filler quickly. Radiesse (CaHA) is not reversible.
Topical numbing cream is applied before lip filler. Most Juvéderm and Restylane products also contain lidocaine, which provides additional anesthesia during injection. Lip filler is more uncomfortable than cheek or jawline filler due to the density of nerve endings. Most patients find it very manageable with numbing.
